Foundations Pilates is owned and operated by Joan Klucha (Balanced Body Reformer 1 & 2, Mat classes -all levels).
Pilates has long been associated with professional dancers and athletes as a way to maintain core strength, over all fitness and flexibility and keep a refined toned body with strong, lean muscles. The versatility and variety of exercises helps inspire participants to come to classes regularly, keep fit and prevent a fitness plateau. Pilates is a low impact and stress free form of fitness. Current research is suggesting that weight loss is achieved at a greater rate and maintained when individuals participate in stress free forms of fitness such a Pilates and Yoga. Keeping the body out of the flight or fight response prevents the release or cortisol. Cortisol is produced during stress of any kind and is responsible for that dreaded belly fat!
Much like Yoga, Pilates exercises are fluid and graceful incorporating mindfulness and body awareness in each pose. A full body workout is achieved every class while focusing on proper breathing, core strength and toning.
Pilates is good for every-body. It can be your only form of fitness but many individuals add Pilates into their current fitness regime to add longevity to their routine, as a form of cross training for activities such as running, golf, horse back riding, dance, gymnastics, yoga, weight training, boot camp, Martial arts, Cross-Fit and more.
